An exploratory study to investigate how Registered Learning Disability Nurses (RN(LD)s) working in England and Wales have adapted their practice during Covid-19?’
This research highlights the increased visibility of learning disability nursing within the wider arena of healthcare during and beyond the pandemic, in relation to what it offers people with a learning disability and to the transferable skills that RN(LD)s possess. It has evidenced the strong commitment to deliver person-centred care, despite constraints imposed by the pandemic. It has evidenced the impact on supporting families, paid carers, and the wider healthcare team to identify and meet the needs of people with learning disabilities. There also appears to have been a positive impact of professional identity, pride, and recognition by others.
