How people living with dementia and their relatives perceive and use resilient strategies to optimise safety whilst living at home

The research explored the processes of resilience used by people living with dementia and their informal carers, which enabled them to live at home safely. Resilient healthcare (termed Safety II) is an approach to patient safety that seeks to understand and enhance the ability of healthcare systems (both those receiving and delivering care), to constantly adapt to effect safe care. This study analysed data from people living at home with dementia and their carers to understand their use of resilient strategies. This has provided broader insights that can be usefully disseminated to inform wider practice in this field of health and social care.
